January 16 - Monday Kameron seems to be thinking, "Please, don't put me on top of your stack!!"  January 17 - Tuesday Katie Lynn loves puzzles. She's only 4, but she can master a 60-piece puzzle.  January 18 - Wednesday Bethany hosted our sister/mom day. Are there too many cooks in the kitchen?  Each brought a dish to share for lunch.  Yum, yum!  "Mommy, you are a good cook!" Sister's day is also cousin's day, and they have a blast together.  I think they are re-enacting the nativity.  Gianna with Baby Jesus Wednesday Evening Happy 8th Birthday, Giles! Glen and Harold O. plotting the shortest way to FL  January 19 - Thursday We met Paul & Julia and travelled part of the way to FL with them. Knowing we were travelling near the ocean, we kept our eyes pealed for it. From the map we thought it would be just around the next bend. I had my camera poised, and this is what we saw!  But it wasn't long before we saw this:  . . . and this . . .  . . . and this!!!!!  January 20 - Friday I went shopping with this fine group of ladies.  Even though the food line at the Haiti Benefit Auction food tent was lo-o-o-o-ng, we had plenty of folks to visit with while we waited!  January 21 - Saturday Interesting people, lilting chant of the auctioneers, shouts and whistles of the bid spotters, beautiful quilts and quality furniture . . . What's better than a good auction?  Anne and Julia chat at SLM's mission booth.  These children thought the cute chicken coops for sale in the auction would make fine play houses!  Julia and Paul visit with his cousin Raymond and Laura.  Pete, Glen and T. H.  We ran into folks we knew from way back - Howard & Joann and Winston & Charlotte . . .  . . . and Lester & Ellen and Uncle Willard & Aunt Melba.  Saturday Night On the way home, we travelled through a huge rain storm.  January 22 - Sunday Our sister congregation is building an addition to their church. It will be so nice for them to have classrooms and a real kitchen!  January 23 - Monday This niftly little fuzz-ball eater makes my sweaters new again . . . almost.  January 24 - Tuesday I wonder what she wished for.  Dandelion girls  January 25 - Wednesday Don't tell me Preston wasn't pleased with this knife for his 6th birthday! His mom - maybe less so. . .  And this remote control car was just what he ordered even though Aunt Claire didn't know it!   January 27 - Friday On the road again - this time to Va. for a nephew's wedding January 28 - Saturday Melissa and Ben's wedding day!  Ben's sisters Rebecca and Autumn at the guest book  Flickering pink and gold luminaries lined the aisle for the bride and groom.  I, Benjamin, take thee, Melissa . . .  Melissa's brother drew this portrait of the happy couple.   Saturday Evening Our sewing retreat has begun! - Projects in progress - Jim, Oren Jr., Mark and Glen swap stories.  January 29 - Sunday Some of the family went with Mother to church at Calvary.  We went off the beaten path and took the long way home from church just for the adventure of it.  As children we sometimes played at "the slab" near our school.  January 30 - Monday (Here are links to more photos of our sewing retreat by Julia and Barbara and Polly) Jillian and Julia dreaming up ideas for a new design. We all laughed until the tears ran down our cheeks when she told us one of her most embarrassing moments!  Polly and Autumn take a break from sewing. January 31 - Tuesday Niece Jennifer weaves these darling little baskets by hand.  Just how cute is this?!  Julia bought Mother's beautiful china set at our parent's sale several years ago.  Mother is telling us how she broke this plate when she took it to a New Year's Day church picnic in 1950.  Julia gave each of us a tea cup or plate. How special!  |
